Rustic Items to Chic Decor
Graphic designer Steve Supple said, “Nothing is what it was intended to be, in the hands of a creative person.” This quote is perfect for our theme of our website in repurposing old items into room décor. Some people would just trash old items not knowing that they could reuse those items in a creative way. When the Michigan Council of Women in Technology announced their 9th annual web design contest was the theme of Repurposing: The Ultimate in Creativity and Recycling, we knew that this theme was perfect for our two creative minds. To us repurposing means, to take something old and unusable and transform it into something totally different. Our website will share with people how we are able to take something ancient and turn it into room decor. For this project we will be repurposing an old book, a globe, and toilet paper rolls, once these items are finished, maybe they will be shared of HGTV.

Repurposing means finding a new use for an old item. While reading this article, the idea that sparked me the most was seeing the upside of flaws or damage. The closest Waste Management by my house is 22650 Stevenson St Clinton Township, MI 48035. Waste Management phone number is (866) 797- 9018. The closest Salvation Army to my house is 31015 Harper Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48080. Their phone number is (586) 541-0397. The three fun facts I found about recycling are: Recycling 100 aluminum cans could light your bedroom for two weeks, if every American could recycle one-tenth of their newspaper we could save about 25 million trees a year, and we throw away 25,000,000 plastic bottles per hour. One thing that stuck out to me in a good way was the old ladder into a book shelf. The one bad idea that stuck out to me was the chair into a shelf. I feel like it really wouldn’t work very well. I would probably repurpose recycled items or pallet wood. For the recycled items I could use water bottles to make room decor or shoe boxes to make shelves. Using pallet wood I could make furniture out of it or even a pallet wall.
